The iOS 10.1.x jailbreak inventor has some good news. The iOS 10.2 jailbreak will update its YaluX tool and add support to iOS10.2.
Luca Tedesco made the announcement on his Twitter feed. According to Luca, the instability of the previous tools prompted the update. The iOS 10.2 jailbreak upgrade will allow compatibility with some of the recent firmware.
Before you get your excitement levels on the rise, the iOS 10.2 jailbreak update compatibility will not extend to those with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. We expect some level of disappointment for owners of such devices. However, there is a logical explanation for the lack of compatibility and support. It appears that Luca Tedesco gave up in his 0-day vulnerability that makes the iOS 10.2 jailbreak update not to work on Phone 7 on the iOS platform. It may be due to the superior model of the hardware and security measure of such devices.
As per the image above, Luca has plans of changing the access routes on the iPhone 7 running on the iOS 10.2 platform. However, that is better than nothing, as much as it will not offer a complete jailbreak on the combination of the firmware and device.
The news of the update by Tedesco aims at bringing stability to the previously unstable tool. The creator of iOS 10.2.x Jailbreak is employing a new technique to support the upgrade. The 10.2 support will benefit and comfort iPhone 7 users as they await the announcement of a stable tool. However, any other 64-bit device should support the 10.2 as well as the previous 10.1 firmware.
The instability issues with the beta tools arise from the Ian Beer’s project Zero code. Some of the notable instability problems include the Cydia Substrate and SpringBoard behavior. The instability problems may have necessitated Tedesco to create additional exploits and employ a new technique to work out the issues. It allows expansion of the compatibility of the firmware coupled with the stability improvements. If that information is correct, Tedesco should utilize the additional exploits in his quest to bring the advancements.
People are hopeful that Luca will release the new amendments soon. We hope the newly updated tool will beat the iOS 10.2 signing window. At least we have some positive expectation as Jay Freeman has a say on the news. Jay believes that the new approach by Tedesco will work. That is an encouraging sign for any doubting Thomas.
Meanwhile, I would recommend the iOS 10.1 x to remain still. In case the release does not happen, or the tool is not stable as we anticipate, the iOS 10.1.x users are still safe and can use the existing tool.
As you prepare for the release of the iOS 10.2 jailbreak tool, you can download the tool on your device. Once the tool’s release and stability are confirmed, you can restore your device before un-signing the iOS 10.2.
